What if you were able to feel how others see you?

This project became my first experience of body painting others.

At the same time, it gave me the possibility to get as close to the experience of tattooing as it was possible.

Later, the project became a starting point for me to start self-learning how to tattoo.

The most surprising element of the project became the final opinion of the “tattooed” participants. Each of them had different reflections. For some of them it was a very personal experience as the moment of being covered with the paintings become a possibility to get more familiar with their own body. For the others a possibility to see how others perceive what would suit them was the most shocking element as they didn’t expect to have any kind of emotions associated with the design chosen by me, which they did.

Project deeply connected to my love for tattoos and body art.

At the beginning of my second year of BA, I decided to become artificial tattoo artist/body painter and collect a group of people interested to work with me and become my models.

Each person was asked to give me an idea of what tattoo they would like to have on their body and I would draw it on them as well as another tattoo that I thought would suit them.

The idea of this project was to discover what others would like to do with their bodies, give them a feeling of how they would feel with it, and how others (me in this case) can see them. After all the body paintings were done, with my analog camera I took black & white pictures of the tattoos and later developed them in a black room.

All the final photos presented in the gallery below.
